ProMach has launched a parts and service line, Lifecycle Solutions, ahead of PACK EXPO International. It is a sign that after-sales support is becoming a product in its own right. Here is this week’s packaging news from Saudi Arabia, the GCC and the world.
In a release dated 6 October, ProMach said it will exhibit at PACK EXPO International (18 to 21 October, McCormick Place, Chicago) under the theme “Built to Run as One”. The ProMach Pavilion (Booth S-3630) is laid out as islands that mirror line stages, from filling and capping to labeling and end-of-line packaging, and includes a guided tour of one product’s process across seven markets, from liquid foods and ready-to-drink to pharma and life sciences.
The substantive announcement is Lifecycle Solutions, which ProMach describes as a newly launched business line focused on parts, service and proactive support after installation. Five new brands join its portfolio of 60 brands: American Holt, DMA Solution, Pride Engineering, Lako and Evolution, which the release says add aftermarket and line-support capabilities. The Zacmi Be-Fill Can Filler is shown as a finalist for PMMI’s 2026 Technology Excellence Awards.
What the release does not say matters as much. It gives no pricing, response-time commitments, regional coverage or parts-stocking terms. It is a trade-show preview, so Lifecycle Solutions should be read as a stated direction, not a proven service offer.
Why it matters for packaging and manufacturing teams. When a large equipment group turns parts and service into its own business line, it signals that after-sales support is now a selling point as much as the machine. Teams buying lines in the Gulf should ask every supplier for the same specifics: which spare parts are stocked in the region, how fast engineers respond, whether remote support is available, and who is accountable when a line made of several brands stops. “Built to run as one” claims are worth testing in the contract, through single-point responsibility, a priced spares list at order, and commissioning support.
SASO’s supplier name and CR rule is now in force. Since 1 October 2026, products covered by ten Saudi technical regulations, including tanks, trailers, simple pressure vessels, solar photovoltaic systems and electrical lifts in buildings, must carry the supplier’s name and commercial registration (CR) number. SASO says it will check compliance through SABER data and apply Product Safety Law penalties. Packaging machinery and food-contact packaging are not on the official list of ten. HQTS, a compliance consultancy, reports that the labeling provisions already existed and that what changed is the enforcement date, and it found no grace period, which is its reading and not SASO text. At least one trade-news page claims a packaging-machinery-specific SASO rule with pre-registration and Arabic nameplates, but it cites no official text and shows conflicting dates, so we treat it as unverified.
Tier status: thin. No new Saudi packaging machinery or investment announcements were found in the window.
CPA and GPCA sign a packaging circularity MoU. The Circular Packaging Association and the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association signed a memorandum of understanding, announced in Dubai on 15 September and reported by Packaging MEA on 2 October, to advance packaging circularity across the UAE and wider GCC. It covers policy engagement, knowledge exchange, industry advocacy, research, awareness and capacity building. It contains no figures or binding targets, so it signals direction rather than a rule change.
Tier status: thin. One UAE-centred item, announced just before the window and reported inside it. Nothing relevant was found for Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait or Oman.
Tetra Pak pilots a paper-based ice cream wrap. Reported by Packaging Gateway on 7 October, the wrap “contains up to 85% paper from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources”, is being validated with Swedish producer Triumf Glass, and has a phased launch planned from Q4 2026, starting in Europe. Trials are ongoing, and the article gives no recyclability or cost information.
Tier status: one further genuine item besides the lead. Both are announcements and previews, not installed-base results.
