Size Matters: How to Choose the Right Shrink Wrapping Machine for Your Box
Match the machine to your box, from a small carton to a full pallet
A shrink wrapping machine wraps a product in plastic film, seals it, then applies heat so the film shrinks tight around the product. The single most important number when choosing one is not speed or price. It is the size of what you pack.
Why box size decides the machine
Buy a machine that is too small and your largest box simply will not fit under the sealing bar or through the tunnel. Buy one that is far too large and you pay for capacity you never use, burn more film per pack and give up floor space.

How to measure your box
Measure your largest product in millimetres: length (L), width (W) and height (H). The film has to travel over the top and under the bottom, so height counts twice in the sizing. A simple rule of thumb for L-bar sealers:
- Sealing bar length should be at least L + H + 50 mm
- Sealing bar width should be at least W + H + 50 mm
- Tunnel opening (if the machine uses a separate shrink tunnel) must be wider than W and taller than H
Three worked examples:

This rule gets you to the right machine family. Film type, product shape and seal quality targets can move the answer, so we always confirm with a trial on your actual product before you buy.

Once you know your minimum sealing area, pick the size class, then the level of automation your volume needs. All models below are Minipack-Torre machines supplied by Triveni.

On semi-automatic and automatic lines the sealed pack then passes through a separate shrink tunnel, and the tunnel opening sets a second size limit:

Beyond the L-bar: long products, multipacks and pallets
Some products do not fit the box-in-a-bag logic at all. Size still decides the answer, just with a different machine:
- Long or variable-length products (aluminium profiles, panels, rolls): a continuous sealer such as the Pratika 56-T MPS or 80-T MPS seals film of any length, so only width and height are limited.
- Multipacks of bottles, cans or cartons: a sleeve wrapping machine wraps the group in a film sleeve open at both ends, then shrinks it into a tight bundle. This is the standard for beverage and grocery multipacks.
- Full pallets: at this size shrink wrapping gives way to stretch wrapping, which secures the load without a heat tunnel. See the Lantech example below.
The film matters too. Polyolefin (POF) shrink film is the usual choice for clear retail packs and food, while thicker polyethylene (PE) film suits heavy bundles on sleeve wrappers.

Frequently asked questions
What size shrink wrapping machine do I need?
Measure your largest product. Your sealing bar should be at least length + height + 50 mm long and width + height + 50 mm wide. For a 300 x 200 x 100 mm box, that means a sealing bar of about 540 x 390 mm.
Can one machine handle several box sizes?
Yes. Size the machine for your largest product and it will also seal smaller ones, at the cost of some extra film per pack on the small sizes. If your sizes vary widely, automatic models with adjustable settings keep changeovers quick.
What is the difference between a chamber machine and an L-bar sealer with a tunnel?
A chamber machine seals and shrinks in one compact unit, which suits small batches. An L-bar sealer seals the pack, then a separate tunnel shrinks it, which suits medium to high volumes.
What if my product is longer than the sealing bar?
Use a continuous sealer. It seals along the length of the product without a fixed limit, so only the width and height of the product are constrained.

تغلّف آلة التغليف الحراري المنتج بغشاء بلاستيكي، ثم تلحمه وتعرّضه للحرارة لينكمش الغشاء بإحكام حوله. والرقم الأهم عند اختيار الآلة ليس السرعة ولا السعر، بل حجم ما تغلّفه.
لماذا يحدد حجم العلبة نوع الآلة
إذا كانت الآلة أصغر من اللازم فلن تمر أكبر علبة لديك تحت قضيب اللحام أو عبر النفق الحراري. وإذا كانت أكبر بكثير من حاجتك فستدفع ثمن قدرة لا تستخدمها، وتستهلك غشاءً أكثر لكل عبوة، وتخسر مساحة في المصنع.

كيف تقيس علبتك
قِس أكبر منتج لديك بالمليمتر: الطول والعرض والارتفاع. يمر الغشاء فوق المنتج وتحته، لذلك يُحسب الارتفاع مرتين. القاعدة العملية لآلات اللحام على شكل L:
- طول قضيب اللحام لا يقل عن الطول + الارتفاع + 50 مم
- عرض قضيب اللحام لا يقل عن العرض + الارتفاع + 50 مم
- فتحة النفق الحراري أعرض من عرض المنتج وأعلى من ارتفاعه

- المنصات الكاملة: يحل التغليف بالغشاء المطاطي محل التغليف الحراري، دون الحاجة إلى نفق حراري.
غشاء البولي أوليفين (POF) هو الخيار المعتاد للعبوات الشفافة والأغذية، بينما يناسب غشاء البولي إيثيلين (PE) الأسمك الحزم الثقيلة.
أسئلة شائعة
ما حجم الآلة الذي أحتاجه؟ قِس أكبر منتج لديك. يجب ألا يقل طول قضيب اللحام عن الطول + الارتفاع + 50 مم، وعرضه عن العرض + الارتفاع + 50 مم.
هل تناسب آلة واحدة عدة مقاسات؟ نعم. اختر الآلة على أساس أكبر منتج وستلحم المنتجات الأصغر أيضاً، مع استهلاك غشاء أكبر قليلاً للمقاسات الصغيرة.
ما الفرق بين آلة الحجرة وآلة اللحام على شكل L مع نفق؟ آلة الحجرة تلحم وتقلّص في وحدة واحدة مدمجة تناسب الدفعات الصغيرة، بينما تلحم آلة L العبوة ثم يقلّصها نفق منفصل، وتناسب الكميات المتوسطة والعالية.
ماذا لو كان منتجي أطول من قضيب اللحام؟ استخدم آلة لحام مستمر، فهي تلحم على طول المنتج دون حد ثابت.
